The Ruin
- Sleeps 2
(plus 2 youngsters if required, in the separate Byre)
|
SORRY - NO PETS |
A while ago, The
Ruin was the tumble-down shell of a croft house last inhabited
about 100 years ago, hence its name. Now the croft house and
adjacent byre have been lovingly restored by us into delightfully
comfortable holiday accommodation whilst retaining the character
and charm of the original buildings. No other signs of habitation
can be seen from The Ruin: just sit back and watch the wildlife
from this stunningly beautiful location on the shore of Loch
Sunart.
Within the ancient stone walls, charming accommodation for
two has been created in a largely open plan layout - the notable
exception being the bathroom, which has a short shower tub/bath.
The sleeping area with its double bed is one step up from
the main floor area and can be hidden behind dreamy voile
curtains. |

The kitchen is comprehensively
equipped, including a gas hob, electric fan oven, dishwasher,
fridge, bread maker, slow cooker etc.
Visitors will enjoy the high comfort level of the full under
floor heating and the added bonus of the wood-burning stove
in the living area while relaxing on the L-shaped sofa. A
small selection of books, CDs and DVDs can be enjoyed using
the CD/radio/cassette player and TV with Sky Freeview.
The stone terrace provides a very pleasant spot for watching
the numerous varieties of birds in the area and for occasional
al fresco meals using the gas barbecue provided - with the
added bonus of a chimenea to ward off any evening chill.
For the more energetic the clothes posts double up for a badminton
net and there is also a croquet set.
The Byre - seven yards away from the house - incorporates
the utility room, housing the washing machine, tumble dryer
and freezer at the rear of the building. At the front is a
small bed/sitting room with double bunks and is equipped with
a TV/DVD combination.
|
This room is to
accommodate two youngsters if required; giving parents some
well deserved peace and quiet. The byre also has a shower
room with loo and basin.
Parents must satisfy themselves that their youngsters will
be happy sleeping on their own, and would treat the property
responsibly. A child alarm operates between the two buildings,
which both have smoke alarms and emergency lighting.
We hope you will want for nothing during your holiday, except
to return to The Ruin or to one of our other houses. In order
to ensure our high standard of cleanliness and maintenance
we let The Ruin on a Sunday-to-Sunday basis. We hope that
this is not inconvenient for you.
